Getting your music played on the radio is a significant milestone for any aspiring musician. It not only exposes your music to a wider audience but can also kickstart your career, leading to more gigs, recognition, and industry connections. At Radio Play Today, we understand the thrill of hearing your song broadcast to the masses, and we’re here to help you achieve that goal. Here are the top five ways to get your music on the radio.
Radio stations are more likely to play music from artists they know and trust. Building relationships with radio DJs and program directors is a key step in getting your music on the air. Start by reaching out to local radio stations and attending events where radio professionals might be present. Engage with them on social media and join music industry groups to network and build connections. Remember, it's about forming genuine relationships, not just promoting your music.
Before pitching your music to radio stations, ensure that it's radio-ready. This means high-quality production, a clean mix, and mastering. Aim for a sound that's polished and appealing to radio listeners. Typically, radio stations prefer songs with a runtime of 3 to 4 minutes, so keep that in mind when creating or editing your tracks. Additionally, ensure your lyrics and content are appropriate for radio play.
To maximize your chances of getting airplay, target the radio stations that align with your genre and style of music. Research different stations to understand their playlists and formats. Are they focused on pop, rock, hip-hop, or indie music? Do they support local artists? Compile a list of stations that would be a good fit for your music, and tailor your pitch accordingly.
A well-prepared press kit is essential for capturing the attention of radio professionals. Your press kit should include an introduction about you and your music, high-quality photos, a professionally recorded track (or a selection of tracks), and any press or reviews you've received. Don't forget to include your contact information and links to your social media profiles. Make it easy for radio stations to find out more about you and your music.
If you find it challenging to get in touch with radio stations or lack the time to manage the process, consider using a radio promotion service. These companies have established relationships with radio stations and can help you get your music heard. While this option may require an investment, it can be an effective way to increase your radio airplay. Research and choose a reputable service that aligns with your goals and budget.
By following these steps, you'll increase your chances of getting your music on the radio and reaching a broader audience. Remember, persistence and patience are key. Keep honing your craft, building relationships, and promoting your music, and you'll be well on your way to hearing your songs on the airwaves. Good luck!

Hi Rizo! Thank you for reaching out. Here are the answers to your questions:
1. Absolutely. We have several UK stations that we work with, and you can definitely still submit to US stations as well.
2. We actually just pitch your music to our partner radio stations and radio stations that are open to hearing our artists. We don't utilize our own radio station.
3. Absolutely. All of our partner stations are compliant with US, European, and Canadian distribution laws. Please be sure that your songs are registered with the appropriate PRO in order to be appropriately compensated for your plays.
4. Our membership is month-to-month. You can cancel whenever you want. You will be automatically billed each month until you cancel your membership in your Paypal settings.
5. As stated in #4, you can cancel your membership at anytime in your Paypal settings. We aren't in the business of breaking arms and forcing you to get on the radio 😉
6. Not that we know of! Hope this helps.
Hope to see you as a member soon.
